In this episode of Covid Matters, we speak to Professor Luke O'Neill, a world-renowned immunologist and Professor of Biochemistry at Trinity College Dublin. He is also a member of the Royal Irish Academy and fellow of the Royal Society.

Professor Luke is the author of three bestselling books as well as his most recent book, Keep Calm and Trust the Science: An Extraordinary Year in the Life of an Immunologist, which is the topic of today's discussion. In the book, Professor Luke diarises his experience of the Covid-19 pandemic as it unfolds in 2020 and early 2021.

We invited Professor Luke onto Covid Matters to tell us more about his life as a public figure during the coronavirus outbreak. We asked him what it's like to have an insider knowledge on the scientific progresses being made during the pandemic, how he deals with so-called antivaxxers and online hate, and what his predictions are for Covid-19 in the year ahead.
