He is known for teaching two of the largest classes in Harvard University's history: "Positive Psychology" and "The Psychology of Leadership." His works have been translated into over thirty languages and have topped best-seller lists worldwide. In today’s episode, host Shay Beider talks with Dr. Tal Ben-Shahar on embracing our emotions as part of the journey toward true happiness. Tal begins by emphasizing that painful emotions are a natural part of being human. To break down the path to happiness, Tal explains the SPIRE model, which includes five elements: Spiritual, Physical, Intellectual, Relational, and Emotional well-being. The duo discuss the concept of post-traumatic growth (PTG) and how individuals can become more resilient after facing significant life challenges. Finally, they discuss the arrival fallacy, revealing that external achievements do not always lead to happiness, and people must live authentic lives that align with their personal meaning and purpose.
