From Entrepreneurship to Biopharmaceuticals: Advocating for Children’s Health

Dr. Joan Fallon is the Founder of Curemark, a biopharmaceuticals company focused on treatment for serious diseases. Some of their work includes programs for Parkinsin’s Disease, schizophrenia and a program for Autism in phase III of clinical trials. She holds over 300 patents around the world and focuses on children's wellbeing and life-threatening pediatric conditions. In addition, she has been named one of the top 100 Most Intriguing Entrepreneurs of 2020 by Goldman Sachs and received the Creative Entrepreneurship Award from The New York Hall of Science in 2018.

 

In today’s episode, Dr. Fallon and host Shay Beider discuss being a leader and an entrepreneur. She describes how she has balanced kindness and authenticity when it can be taken advantage of as a weakness. She talks about how to utilize uncertainty and positively embrace change both personally and professionally. Dr. Fallon discusses some of her goals with Curemark to address patients more, and break down the traditions that medicine has. She describes the individualized process of healing and the importance of looking at situations from different perspectives.
