** Congregation Ahavat Olam’s musically uplifting weekly Shabbat service. **
Tonight is a special treat: Shabbat on The Road and Open House in Gloucester. Rabbi Idan's sermon for this Shabbat, Parashat Matot-Masei, is: “Sacred Stations—Holy Moments in New Locations”
Sermon excerpt: “Most of us take so many pictures. Whether it is a milestone in our children's or grandchildren's lives, places we are visiting, family vacations, unique nature observations, or any other important events, we document special moments in our lives, and often later look back at them to relive these experiences.
In this week's Torah portion, Matot-Masei, meaning journeys of the tribes, which is the concluding parsha of the Book of Numbers, we learn the names of all the stations where the Israelites journeyed-through in the desert, forty-two to be precise. If Moses had a camera, he would probably have taken many pictures of the Israelites’ desert journey, or at least forty-two of them.” Rabbi Idan
