Riding the Broom at Zaza Hall

"Our father owned a dance hall, located in the same building as the apartment we lived in. It was a large, open space, used for parties and wedding receptions. And it was a great place for us young boys and girls to run and play and have fun." 

One of the best things about growing up in an Italian-American family is that it comes with a love of big parties and lively boozy weddings. Parents don't fret if their children drink a little wine. And those kids run around exhausting themselves—as they're finally set free in large open spaces.
