In our last episode, Judas Iscariot agreed to betray his teacher so that he might be handed over to the chief priests and scribes who were afraid of the people. When we last left Jesus and the apostles, they were celebrating the Passover, and it’s a historically significant celebration, for Jesus has come to be the greater fulfillment of the Passover. He is the perfect lamb who is slaughtered so that his blood might cover God’s people. He is also the firstborn who dies under the wrath of God. Our episode today continues in the upper room, where we left off, but they make their way to the Mount Olives to retire for the night. Jesus spends the night in agony, for he knows what lies ahead.
