The year is 2017, and many of us are still reeling at the thought of having Trump in the office he's in. Over the past 4 years (I'm writing this just after the '20 election, Yay!) I've made no bones about the fact that I believe this presidency has done great harm to this country. So here, Rev. Gary Dorrien joins us for a conversation on his Religion Dispatches article, “Irony Repeats Itself: Reconsidering Reinhold Niebuhr in the Trump Era.”
Rev. Dorrien is an American social ethicist and theologian. He is the Reinhold Niebuhr Professor of Social Ethics at Union Theological Seminary in the City of New York and Professor of Religion at Columbia University. He is the author of 18 books on ethics, social theory, philosophy, theology, politics, and intellectual history.
Prior to joining the faculty at Union and Columbia in 2005, Dorrien taught at Kalamazoo College, where he served as Parfet Distinguished Professor and as Dean of Stetson Chapel.
