And why do you throw yourself a
party? Well, if you have ever gone through the pain-fun process of making a
comic book you know it’s not an easy task.
You might think up an idea. And
that’s the easy part of the matter. Ideas are like assholes… everyone has one.
And while some might not be the best ideas, there is always room for growth and
progress. Now all that stuff you thought about gets written down.
All you must do next is sit down
and write the ideas down in notes. Write a plot for your story. Develop
characters. Start a lore with airtight plots devices, stories, timelines,
character descriptions, and story boards you know your basic world building.
all that stuff you thought about gets written down... and it needs to manifest.
Now all that stuff you wrote about gets sent over from the left part of the
brain to the right part. And once that person get a hold of it it’s their
chance to turn the vol. up to 11. They have the task of getting all that was
written down and make magic with it. Suddenly there is character sheets,
background art, heroes, villains, and all in between to be drawn. This is
easily one worst spot to be stuck on. Unless you have a good artist.
if you can manage to get the art done and you think, "heck I’m halfway
there." And ohhh how much fun I are having. And yeah, you might of not
have issues with the last two but here comes another loop on this roller
coaster of publishing funny books. Setting up the pages in a way that is
presentable, legible getting word bubbles to fit in a way that makes the story
flow. Just making sure it looks good.
Good you made it, you have 'A'
comic. that’s good. But how is Joe from Timbuktu going to read it? Well, you
make multiple copies so you can share your story with the masses. But that
don’t come cheap or easy. Finding the right way to print your masterpiece can
be difficult. Get some one that knows and pay up the wazoo or go with a smaller
press and hope for the best. But once you find your place to mass produce, you
can see the finish line. This is pretty much an abridged way things work in
order to make comic books. once the printer has made your millionth book. You
have to go out there and start the slanging process. A much harder process than
making the comic.
So, before you head over to sell
your soul to the masses. Give yourself some time to celebrate the
accomplishment of making the dream a tangible reality. Get your
Martinelli’s and some fancy cheeses and go to town.
said ALL that. Come on down to Nostalgic comics in San Gabriel Valley on
