Shelly Goldstein is a writer-performer who has written for every genre
of TV, film and stage. She wrote the comedy special WAIT! WAIT! DON’T
KILL ME & performed in it with Lily Tomlin, Pete Holmes, &
Margaret Cho.
She was Script Consultant & lyricist on Liongate’s UK/European
series, COLD COURAGE. She wrote the Emmy winning PBS musical special,
CHICAGO VOICES. Her lyric, ILLINOIS is sung by the Gay Men’s Choir of
Chicago in the film, LINCOLN IS CRYING. She has written (or re-written)
for (partial list) Stephen Colbert, Steve Martin, Lily Tomlin, Sharon
Stone, Regina King, Tiffany Haddish, Barbra Streisand, Hannah Einbinder,
Hugh Jackman, Larry Wilmore, rocker Joe Walsh, Leslie Odom Jr., Jane
Fonda, Laurence Fishburne, Kal Penn, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Quincy Jones,
and Yoko Ono She is a founding member of the LA Broadway sisterhood, THE
FABULOUS CHICKIES.
Their online concerts helped raise money for The Actors Fund during the
COVID lockdown. Onscreen she appeared in the British drama THE RIDDLE,
opposite Sir Derek Jacobi and the Irish horror spoof, ASSAULT OF
DARKNESS She recently performed in the 50th anniversary concert of
GODSPELL in London, at Le Crazy Coqs. She has performed in West End
tributes to Jerry Herman and Kander & Ebb. She directed the London
cabaret premiere of MILLIE: A tribute to Millicent Martin. In Hollywood,
she has performed in tributes to Stephen Schwartz and Barbra Streisand.
She is the go-to writer for events that combine style, humor and
substance – having written for such organizations as UNICEF, PEOPLE FOR
THE AMERICAN WAY, Norman Lear’s SENTINEL AWARDS, SMITHSONIAN/MUSEUM OF
