Alright folks, let's dive into the Coastal Waters Forecast for Florida brought to you by the National Weather Service in Miami.
Today along the Atlantic coastal waters and Gulf coastal waters, we're looking at easterly winds calming down as the day rolls on. These will shift to southeasterly and later south as a cold front sneaks in from the north. Keep those umbrellas handy as scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible through Thursday, mainly lingering over the Atlantic waters.
Heads up for boaters, once that front moves through, expect winds to switch to north-northwesterly towards the week's end, possibly picking up speed by the weekend.
And crossing the Gulf Stream? Smooth sailing with no hazards to worry about. Always good news!
For those cruising from Jupiter Inlet to Deerfield Beach out to 60 nautical miles, plan for southeasterly winds at 10 to 15 knots today, with seas around 3 to 4 feet. Showers and a chance of thunderstorms are in the forecast.
Tonight, winds calming down to 5 to 10 knots, shifting to the south, with a decrease in seas to 2 to 3 feet. Showers likely early on but tapering off post-midnight.
As for tomorrow, winds becoming westerly at 5 to 10 knots with seas hovering around 2 feet. Keep an eye out for a chance of showers and maybe a thunderstorm in the afternoon.
