Alright, folks, let's dive into some maritime weather along the sunny coasts of Florida! Brought to you by the National Weather Service in Miami.
So, what's cookin' out on the waters? Well, we've got a moderate east-southeast breeze sticking around through the weekend thanks to Hurricane Rafael's movements and some chill high pressure hanging out in the western Atlantic. You can expect improving but still slightly caution-inducing conditions out there.
For you sea enthusiasts, around Chokoloskee to Bonita Beach, Eastern Cape Sable to Chokoloskee, and beyond, small craft should keep an eye out as winds may reach 20 knots with seas up to 5 feet in places during the day.
Over in Jupiter Inlet to Ocean Reef and East Cape Sable to Bonita Beach, enjoy the easterly winds today, bringing seas around 2 to 4 feet and a moderate chop in intracoastal waters. Friday night, expect more easterly winds and slightly calmer seas.
As we roll into the weekend, those easterly winds will continue, shifting to the northeast, with gusts picking up at times. By Saturday night, waves could be reaching 8 feet in some exposed areas - sounds like a bumpy ride ahead!
For Lake Okeechobee and Biscayne Bay fans, ranging from light chop to moderate chop conditions are in the forecast with gusts picking up later in the weekend.
