Alright folks, grab your umbrellas and hold onto your hats because we've got a wild weekend ahead in Florida! I'm here to give you the scoop on what to expect on the water.
For the Atlantic waters from Jupiter Inlet to Ocean Reef and the Gulf waters from East Cape Sable to Bonita Beach, we're talking about fresh to strong easterly winds sticking around through the weekend. That means hazardous conditions in the Atlantic and cautionary conditions in the Gulf, thanks to gusty winds and elevated seas coming your way.
And hey, if you're planning on setting sail, keep in mind the Gulf Stream hazards – sustained winds of 20 to 25 knots and seas could go up to 7 feet until the weekend wraps up.
Now, for specific areas like Jupiter Inlet to Deerfield Beach, get ready for a bit of a rollercoaster. Today, expect east winds at 15 to 20 knots with seas running 3 to 5 feet, occasionally hitting 6 feet. Then tonight, those gusts could pick up to 25 knots as the seas bump up to 4 to 6 feet, even reaching 8 feet occasionally. Tomorrow, it's going to get even more intense with seas potentially hitting 7 feet, occasionally even 9 feet.
For those sailing from Deerfield Beach to Ocean Reef, brace yourselves for similar conditions with east winds of 15 to 20 knots today and seas at 3 to 5 feet. Tomorrow, those winds could ramp up to 20 to 25 knots, increasing the seas to 4 to 6 feet.
Over in areas like Chokoloskee to Bonita Beach, be prepared as small craft should exercise caution. Winds will be around 10 to 15 knots today, with seas at 2 to 3 feet. Tomorrow, those seas could grow to 2 to 4 feet, occasionally hitting 5 feet.
Now, for Lake Okeechobee and Biscayne Bay, small craft should also exercise caution. With winds picking up and the waters getting choppy, it's best to stay alert.
