Good day, folks! Let's dive into the waters with a forecast for Florida's coastal areas.
Today, you can expect a moderate to fresh east-northeast breeze hanging around into the early part of the week. High pressure is calling the shots, keeping those sustained winds at about 10 to 20 miles per hour today. By Monday's end, we're talking Small Craft Advisory territory with sustained winds of 20 to 25 miles per hour and gusts revving up to 30 miles per hour. In the Atlantic, seas will be cruising at 2-4 feet on Sunday, but by Monday, they'll make a splash at 5-7 feet. Keep an eye out for a few isolated showers dancing around too.
For those venturing into the Gulf Stream, expect sustained winds of 15-25 miles per hour with wave heights potentially reaching up to 7 feet by late Monday.
And hey, for our nautical enthusiasts, the approximate location of the western boundary of the Gulf Stream as of yesterday is juuust off the coast at various points including Fowey Rocks, Port Everglades, Lake Worth, and Jupiter Inlet.
Now, let's talk specifics:
For Coastal waters from Jupiter Inlet to Deerfield Beach, small craft should play it safe today with northeast winds at 10 to 15 miles per hour and gusts up to 20 miles per hour. Seas are cruising at 2 to 4 feet, occasionally up to 5 feet. Intracoastal waters will be tossing a moderate chop your way.
Tomorrow night, hold onto your hats as those winds pick up to 20 to 25 miles per hour. Seas will be feeling a bit friskier at 4 to 6 feet. Things are getting choppy in exposed areas, so be prepared for a bumpy ride.
