Hey there, weather watchers! Time to dive into the latest coastal waters forecast for Florida brought to you by the National Weather Service.
Heading out on the Atlantic waters from Jupiter Inlet to Ocean Reef or the Gulf waters from East Cape Sable to Bonita Beach? Well, buckle up for some moderate east-southeasterly winds cruising at around 10 to 15 miles per hour, with gusts up to 20 miles per hour. Expect scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms on the horizon, so watch out for some locally hazardous and choppy seas. Nothing too crazy though, with seas generally hanging around 3 feet or less in the Atlantic and 2 feet or less in the Gulf.
Now, regarding the Gulf Stream, no hazards to worry about there. As of today, the stream is about 29 nautical miles north-northeast of Fowey Rocks. Keep that in mind on your nautical adventures!
For those cruising from Jupiter Inlet to Deerfield Beach, or maybe from Deerfield Beach to Ocean Reef, small craft should flex those caution muscles. Today expect southeast winds ticking around 10 to 15 miles per hour, with seas lounging at 2 to 3 feet. Showers and thunderstorms are on the guest list, especially in the afternoon and through the night.
Looking ahead to Sunday, a similar forecast with southeast winds keeping it easy-breezy at 10 to 15 miles per hour, so plan for more showers and storms tapping on your maritime door.
And for all the early birds planning for Monday through Wednesday, east winds at 10 to 15 miles per hour might bring some showers and a chance of thunderstorms dancing in the mix.
