Alright folks, let's dive into the waters and see what weather we've got brewing along the Florida coasts today and into the weekend.
Along the Atlantic coastal waters from Jupiter Inlet to Ocean Reef and the Gulf coastal waters from East Cape Sable to Bonita Beach, here's the scoop:
We've got a mix of gentle to moderate southwesterly breezes sticking around through mid-week. There's a stalled frontal boundary and a low-pressure area up north, so expect scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms daily. Keep an eye out for potentially higher winds and waves due to these storms.
Now, for those of you setting sail, good news - no Gulf Stream hazards to worry about. And if you're curious about the Gulf Stream's location, it's about 8 nautical miles north-northeast of Fowey Rocks as of yesterday.
Moving on to specific areas:
For coastal waters from Jupiter Inlet to Deerfield Beach, expect southwest winds at 5 to 10 knots today. Seas around 2 feet with a mix of showers and thunderstorms. Tonight, south winds at 5 to 10 knots, with showers likely in the evening.
Over at Biscayne Bay, south winds of 5 to 10 knots today, with a slight chance of showers in the morning, and then a chance of showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon. Tonight, those winds will diminish to 5 knots after midnight.
And lastly, for Lake Okeechobee, southwest winds at 5 to 10 knots today, with showers and thunderstorms likely in the afternoon. Tonight, expect smooth sailing with those southwest winds at 5 knots.
As we look ahead to Thursday through Sunday, expect some changes with easterly winds picking up at 10 to 15 knots and seas around 2 to 3 feet. Showers are likely with a chance of thunderstorms, so keep that rain gear handy.
