Hey there, folks! Time for your Florida coastal waters forecast brought to you by the National Weather Service in Miami. Let's dive right into it!
For the Atlantic coastal waters from Jupiter Inlet to Ocean Reef out to 60 nautical miles, and the Gulf coastal waters from East Cape Sable to Chokoloskee out to 20 nautical miles and Chokoloskee to Bonita Beach out 60 nautical miles, here's what you can expect:
We've got a gentle to moderate southwesterly breeze hanging around through mid-week due to a stalled out frontal boundary and a low-pressure area up north in Florida. This setup may bring some showers and thunderstorms daily, potentially kicking up the winds and waves locally.
Now, for specific areas:
Near Jupiter Inlet to Deerfield Beach out to 20 nautical miles, today brings around southwest winds at 10 to 15 knots with gusts up to 25 knots, seas around 2 to 3 feet. Showers and thunderstorms are likely in the afternoon after a slight chance in the morning.
For the Lake Okeechobee region, expect southwest winds at 5 to 10 knots, with light chop on the waters. Showers are possible, with thunderstorms likely in the afternoon.
And for Biscayne Bay, small craft should exercise caution as we may see southwest winds picking up to 10 to 15 knots with gusts up to 20 knots later on in the day. Showers and thunderstorms also in the mix.
