Coastal Waters Forecast Reveals Calm Conditions with Potential Thunderstorm Activity

The National Weather Service Miami has issued a comprehensive coastal waters forecast for Florida, highlighting relatively tranquil maritime conditions with occasional thunderstorm risks across various marine zones.

Gentle southeasterly winds are expected to dominate the weekend, with light westerly breezes anticipated over Gulf waters during afternoon hours. Mariners should anticipate isolated to scattered thunderstorms that could potentially generate localized hazardous wind and sea conditions.

The Gulf Stream's current positioning has been precisely mapped, with its western wall located approximately 29 nautical miles northeast of Fowey Rocks, 7 miles east of Port Everglades, 6 miles south-southeast of Lake Worth, and 6 miles east-northeast of Jupiter Inlet.

Coastal waters from Jupiter Inlet to Ocean Reef and from East Cape Sable to Bonita Beach will experience predominantly calm seas, with wave heights generally less than 2 feet. Most regions will see wind speeds ranging between 5 to 10 knots, creating light chop conditions in intracoastal waterways.

Lake Okeechobee and Biscayne Bay are expected to have similar patterns, with southwest to southeast winds around 5 to 10 knots. Thunderstorm chances increase during afternoon and evening periods, particularly from Monday through Wednesday.

Boaters and maritime enthusiasts should remain weather-aware, monitoring potential thunderstorm developments and associated wind shifts. While current conditions appear stable, the dynamic nature of coastal weather requires continuous observation and preparedness.

Mariners are advised to check updated forecasts and maintain standard safety protocols when navigating these Florida coastal waters.
