Hey there, folks! Time for your coastal waters forecast for Florida, brought to you by the National Weather Service in Miami. Here's the lowdown for your weekend plans out on the water.
If you're cruising from Jupiter Inlet to Ocean Reef or from East Cape Sable to Bonita Beach, expect some gentle east-southeasterly breezes through the weekend. Afternoons might see a twist to the southwest over the Gulf waters, so keep an eye out. Scattered showers and thunderstorms could pop up anytime, especially in the mornings. And watch out – winds and waves might get a boost near any stormy patches.
Now, don't fret about any Gulf Stream hazards, there aren't any to worry about right now. Just a heads up on its current location for the curious minds out there.
For today, South to Southeast winds around 5 to 10 knots, with seas under 2 feet. A chance of showers in the morning, followed by a slight chance in the afternoon. Tonight, winds shifting to South-Southwest, still under 10 knots, with seas remaining calm.
Tomorrow, mainly South winds 5 to 10 knots along the coast, switching to East-Southeast later on. In the Gulf Stream, a mix of Southwest and Southeast winds with seas under 2 feet. Chance of showers and thunderstorms in the mix on Sunday.
As we roll into next week, it's a mix of Southeast winds, with waves under 2 feet, and a continued chance of showers and storms. Keep an eye on the sky and be prepared for some wet weather.
And if you're hitting up Lake Okeechobee or Biscayne Bay, the conditions are looking quite similar – smooth sailing with just a chance of showers and thunderstorms.
