Hey there, Florida water lovers! Time to dive into your Coastal Waters Forecast for the upcoming days, straight from the National Weather Service in Miami.
So, here's the lowdown: expect gentle to moderate southerly to southwest winds today, thanks to some low pressure off Northern Florida. But hold onto your hats because those winds will be swinging back to the east over the weekend as some high pressure moves in from the western Atlantic. And don't pack away the umbrellas just yet, folks; we've got showers and thunderstorms on the menu each day through early next week.
Out in the Gulf Stream, no hazards are lurking, so smooth sailing there. And if you're curious, the Gulf Stream's western wall is hanging about 1 to 13 nautical miles offshore, as of a few days back.
Now, let's break it down for specific regions. Along the coast from Jupiter Inlet to Deerfield Beach, we're looking at mainly southern winds, seas less than 2 feet, and a chance of showers and storms. For you night owls, expect more of the same with maybe a slightly higher chance of evening precipitation.
Heading up to Deerfield Beach to Ocean Reef, similar story there with a bit more wind gust action and slightly larger seas, but overall still relatively calm waters with a chance of showers and storms.
Now, for the Chokoloskee to Bonita Beach area, we've got a mix of wind directions throughout the day, calm seas, and, you guessed it, showers and thunderstorms possibly popping up.
And for the inland folks around Lake Okeechobee, a mix of southwest and southeast winds, light chop, and yep, you guessed it again, chances of showers and thunderstorms rolling through.
If you're out and about in Biscayne Bay, expect more of the same, with a tad more breeze picking up towards the evening and a moderate chop in store for Saturday night.
So, there you have it, water warriors! Keep an eye on those skies and maybe pack an extra towel, just in case. For more details, check us out via the link in the show notes.
