Alright, folks, it's time to dive into your Coastal Waters Forecast for sunny Florida brought to you by the National Weather Service Miami. So, let's set sail and see what the weather has in store for us!
Today along the Atlantic coast from Jupiter Inlet to Ocean Reef and the Gulf coast from East Cape Sable to Chokoloskee, we've got a little bit of everything. Winds will be shifting to a north to northeasterly direction with speeds staying on the light side. However, keep an eye out for some potentially strong thunderstorms bringing in locally hazardous winds and seas.
Now, when it comes to hazards in the Gulf Stream, we're in the clear. The Gulf Stream is hanging out around 7 to 13 nautical miles from various locations, according to the Naval Oceanographic Office.
For all you boaters out there near Jupiter Inlet to Deerfield Beach, expect North to Northeast winds at 5 to 10 knots today. Seas ranging from 2 to 4 feet, occasionally up to 5 feet. The Intracoastal waters will be a light chop, with a chance of showers and thunderstorms throughout the day. So, pack your rain gear just in case!
As we sail through the week, the pattern pretty much remains the same with easterly winds, 2-4 foot seas, and a continuing chance of showers and thunderstorms.
