Calm Seas and Steady Winds Forecast for Florida Coastal Waters

Marine enthusiasts and boaters can expect tranquil conditions across Florida's coastal waters this weekend, according to the latest National Weather Service marine forecast from Miami.

High pressure will dominate the region, creating consistent light southeasterly winds ranging from 5 to 10 knots. The Atlantic and Gulf coastal waters from Jupiter Inlet to Ocean Reef and from East Cape Sable to Bonita Beach will experience relatively smooth sailing conditions.

Wave heights are anticipated to remain less than 2 feet throughout the forecast period, with wave periods of approximately 3 seconds. Intracoastal waterways will see light chop, providing comfortable navigation for smaller vessels.

The Gulf Stream's current position adds an interesting navigational note. As of May 15, the west wall of the Gulf Stream was located just offshore at specific points: 8 nautical miles north-northeast of Fowey Rocks, 7 nautical miles east of Port Everglades, 6 nautical miles south-southeast of Lake Worth, and 11 nautical miles east-northeast of Jupiter Inlet.

Localized water conditions will vary slightly. Biscayne Bay will experience similar southeast winds and light chop, while Lake Okeechobee will see shifting wind directions but maintain generally smooth to light chop conditions.

No significant marine hazards are currently anticipated, making this an ideal weekend for coastal and offshore activities. Boaters should still monitor current conditions and maintain standard maritime safety practices.
