Good morning, Florida water lovers! It's time for your coastal waters forecast brought to you by the National Weather Service in Miami. I'm here to keep you in the know about what Mother Nature has in store for our beautiful Sunshine State playgrounds.
Today, we have a tale of two winds. Along the coast, we'll start with some gentle west winds at 5 to 10 knots, but watch out - they'll switch to a feisty 20 to 25 knots with gusts up to 30 knots in the afternoon. Over in the Gulf Stream, it's a similar story with west winds at 10 to 15 knots turning into a 15 to 20 knot northwest wind show. Seas will be dancing at 2 to 4 feet, occasionally showing off at 5 feet. Intracoastal waters will keep things interesting with a moderate chop. And don't forget your raincoat - showers are likely with a chance of thunderstorms.
Tonight, the party continues with North to Northeast winds at a steady 25 to 30 knots along the coast and gusts up to 35 knots. In the Gulf Stream, it's a similar story with seas building to 5 to 7 feet, occasionally sneaking up to 9 feet after midnight. Intracoastal waters will be choppy in exposed areas.
As we look ahead to Tuesday, we're still in for some gusty Northeast winds at 20 to 25 knots, with seas showing off at 5 to 7 feet, occasionally reaching up to 9 feet. Intracoastal waters will be choppy in exposed areas. Things start to calm down by Wednesday, with East winds at 5 to 10 knots. Seas will be more manageable at 3 to 5 feet. Intracoastal waters will just have a light chop.
