Hey there, folks! Time to dive into your Coastal Waters Forecast for East Central Florida brought to you by the National Weather Service in Melbourne. Let's see what's brewing out there.
Today, we're looking at dry conditions sticking around due to weak high pressure in the area. A cold front is lining up to sweep across the local Atlantic waters tomorrow, so keep an eye out for increasing winds with not-so-great boating conditions rolling in over the weekend. You might encounter isolated to scattered showers with some gusty winds on Friday, and a few isolated showers from Cape Canaveral downward on Saturday.
Heads up near inlets during the outgoing tide as long period swells could lead to some hazardous conditions. But good news - no particular hazards out in the Gulf Stream today!
Now, let's break it down closer to shore:
For Flagler Beach to Volusia-Brevard County Line 0-20 nm, today you're looking at southwest winds at 5 to 10 knots with seas around 2 feet. Tonight, western winds at 5 to 10 knots with seas bumping up slightly to 2 to 3 feet. Friday, expect a shift to northwesterly winds at 10 to 15 knots, becoming choppy with seas at 3 to 4 feet.
Remember, small craft should exercise caution near inlets throughout this region. And as always, safety first out there on the water!
