Hey there, coastal dwellers! Time for your East Central Florida coastal waters forecast brought to you by the National Weather Service in Melbourne. Buckle up, it's going to be a bit of a wild ride out there.
For folks hitting the waters from Flagler Beach to Jupiter Inlet, we've got some not-so-favorable boating conditions ahead. We're looking at poor to hazardous conditions persisting today due to some onshore winds cranking up the waves. Keep an eye out as Hurricane Rafael makes its way through the Gulf of Mexico. Thankfully, conditions should ease up a bit by Friday, but hazardous boating might be back on the menu by the weekend.
If you're planning to set sail closer to shore, from Flagler Beach to Volusia-Brevard County Line 0-20 nm, a Small Craft Advisory is in effect until this afternoon. Expect Southeast winds around 15 knots causing some choppy waters with seas ranging from 5 to 7 feet, occasionally reaching up to 8 feet.
Now, for the weekend warriors, Friday through Monday looks like a mixed bag with improving conditions but keep an eye out for those pop-up showers, especially on Monday.
Remember, safety first out there, folks! And for more detailed information, don't forget to check out the link in the show notes.
