Hey there, coastal dwellers! Time for your East Central Florida coastal waters forecast brought to you by the National Weather Service in Melbourne. It's Thursday, May 30, 2024.
For all you boat enthusiasts out there, things are looking pretty smooth sailing for the next couple of days. High pressure is moving in over the weekend, so expect those onshore winds to pick up a bit, creating some less-than-ideal boating conditions. But hey, that's just Mother Nature doing her thing.
Now, if you're thinking about heading out, here's what you can expect:
For the area from Flagler Beach to Volusia-Brevard County Line (0-20 nm), today will bring west to northwest winds at 5 knots, shifting to northeast at 10 knots later in the day. Seas will be around 2 feet, with a light chop on the intracoastal waters. Tomorrow, the winds pick up a bit, reaching 10 to 15 knots in the afternoon.
If you're planning a bit further out, from Flagler Beach to Volusia-Brevard County Line (20-60 nm), you're looking at similar conditions. North winds at 5 to 10 knots today, becoming northeast in the afternoon. Seas around 2 to 3 feet. Friday will see those northeast winds increasing to 10 to 15 knots.
Remember, always keep an eye out for thunderstorms as winds and waves can get higher in those areas.
