Good morning, East Central Florida! It's time for your coastal waters forecast brought to you by the National Weather Service in Melbourne. I'm here to break down what you can expect out on the water.

As we start the week, high pressure is shifting away from the East Coast, which means we'll see those southeast breezes freshen up through early Tuesday. Boating conditions will deteriorate by late Tuesday and Wednesday, turning hazardous Wednesday night into Thursday as a cold front moves in. Get ready for scattered to numerous showers and a few lightning storms accompanying that front on Thursday.

For those hitting the waters closer to shore, like from Flagler Beach to the Volusia-Brevard County Line, expect east winds at 10 to 15 knots today, picking up to 15 to 20 knots by the afternoon. Seas will range from 2 to 3 feet with a moderate chop on the intracoastal waters. Tuesday will bring stronger southeast winds at 15 to 20 knots and seas of 3 to 4 feet, occasionally up to 5 feet.

Moving further out to sea, such as from Flagler Beach to 20-60 nautical miles, conditions will be a bit choppier. With 10-15 knot winds today and seas at 2 to 3 feet, expect those winds to increase to 20-25 knots by Wednesday night, bringing seas up to 6-8 feet with occasional higher swells.

And for those venturing out even farther, like from Sebastian Inlet to Jupiter Inlet, get ready for east winds at 10 to 15 knots today, building to 15 to 20 knots by Tuesday. Seas will range from 3 to 4 feet, possibly up to 5 feet. Thursday brings south winds at 20 to 25 knots and seas of 3 to 5 feet, with showers likely and a slight chance of thunderstorms.

Remember, winds and seas can be higher in and near thunderstorms, so stay weather aware out there, folks.
