Good morning, East Central Florida! It's time to dive into your coastal waters forecast for today - brought to you by the National Weather Service in Melbourne.
For those of you living by Flagler Beach to Jupiter Inlet out to 60 nautical miles, here's what's brewing: We've got a lingering swell creating some less-than-ideal boating conditions across the Gulf Stream waters today. But not to worry, high pressure is moving in over the local Atlantic waters, promising better conditions through early next week. However, keep an eye out for a cold front heading our way on Wednesday, potentially stirring up some poor to hazardous boating conditions later in the week.
Now, for all you sea lovers near Flagler Beach to Volusia-Brevard County Line, expecting east winds at 5 to 10 knots today, shifting to the southeast later on. Seas ranging from 3 to 4 feet with occasional peaks up to 5 feet, so keep an eye out for those. Tonight, the winds will shift to the south, then west, with similar sea conditions.
Moving forward to Sunday, a pleasant mix of west winds at 5 knots becoming southeast in the afternoon - ideal for a leisurely day out on the water. And if you're planning ahead for Wednesday, brace yourselves for southwest winds picking up to 15 to 20 knots, possibly accompanied by showers and a slight chance of thunderstorms.
Don't forget, sailors and captains, to stay weather-aware and prepared for any changes in conditions. For more detailed forecasts and updates, head over to www.quietperiodplease.com.
