This concept came up in a recent episode of Barbell Shrugged and it is the theory of nutritional triage. The basic premise is that if there is a deficiency in micronutrients the body will triage and move micronutrient usage to short-term needs while neglecting long-term requirements of that nutrition. This can be good in short bouts but over the long-term these sub clinical deficiencies can cause serious problems that may go unnoticed unless looked for specifically or until they become a major problem. This article highlights the importance of vitamin K.
