Following WW1, a drunken American war hero is hired to fly a biplane for a spoiled socialite in an attempt to find her missing father. The pair, along with a mechanic take two bi-planes into Afghanistan, India, Nepal, and finally China before the missing father is found fighting a war with a local warlord. All the while, the father’s business partner is trying to have them killed. Tom Selleck is outstanding as the drunken pilot in a constant battle with the socialite played by Bess Armstrong. The father is played by Wilford Brimley. The supporting cast and comic relief are inspired by Jack Weston and John Morley. You don’t want to miss the adventure of High Road to China (1983) and my classic movie review!
