Thank you for tuning in Listeners,
This is Civically Speaking, the Podcast version, aired regularly on Tuesdays at 6:30 pm on Saskatoon's communty radio station, CFCR.ca 90.5 FM.
In this Part 3 episode Councillor David Kirton (and Journalist) interviews Lyn Brown, Executive Director of the Saskatoon Housing Initiatives Partnership (SHIP) and Saskatoon Tribal Council (STC) Chief Mark Arcand.
Councillor Kirton takes us behind the scenes to learn about the valuable efforts these organizations coordinated with other community-based organizations, orders of government, and volunteers from across Saskatoon - to help Saskatoon's most vulnerable people living out on the streets this past winter during a pandemic. Providing important resources in the form of food, clothing, shelter, safety, comfort and more. This discussion includes learning more about the downtown safety and well-being intiative known as the Saweyihotan Project that connects people to services including developing long-term strategy to address housing and social services needs of people in Saskatoon.
A big thank you is something we all need to say to Lyn, Chief Arcand and the mountain of volunteers and organizations and agencies who contributed and shared in making this effort happen.
