This episode is a rebroadcast of an original show aired on CFCR.ca 90.5's Civically Speaking show hosted by Lenore Swystun.
In this episode a panel is brought together to talk with women about being entrepreneurs. Each guest brings their unique perspectives and experiences.
As example, Elizabeth Shih, owner/operator of storytellingcommunications.ca courageously highlights some of the additional challenges she faces as a woman entrepreneur who lives with a disability.  Elizabeth shares some good resources she has utilized in her journey for other folks to consider who are thinking about or who are starting out on their own entrepreneurial journey.
Ashleigh Mattern shares some of the positive experiences she came upon when starting up her two companies. Ashleigh emphasizes how, now that she is a few years into being an entrepreneur, there seems to be less supports available for helping established entrepreneurs. Learn more about Ashleigh at @vireoproductions.
Monica Krueger draws from her 30+ year journey of nurturing and catalyzing other entrepreneurs through Praxis School of Entrepreneurship. In one of the show segments, Monica places emphasis on how there needs to be much more research done specifically to understand the makeup and factors that go into creating successful small businesses to better be able to support and develop the sector. Monica also shares how growth in many small businesses is about more than just the numbers. She shares how in many small businesses the focus is often about doing meaningful work that has an impact for those it serves, employs, and relates with.
And, as the host of the show, and entrepreneur myself, in the closing segment, I offer an idea about how cities like Saskatoon may want to consider helping small businesses by providing publicly accessible entrepreneurial incubator spaces to spur collaborations of ventures akin to maker spaces +++.
