Radio Show: Rising Above Odds: How The Excel Center is Changes Lives Through Education

Host Andrew Bartolotta sits down with Candis Dawson-Taylor, Executive Director of The Excel Center, and recent graduate Carla Thomas, to learn about Goodwill Memphis' innovative high school for adults. The Excel Center offers the opportunity to earn a high school diploma and industry-recognized certifications, positioning graduates for careers that offer better-than-average wages.

Carla Thomas is a prime example of the program's success. With the highest test scores of her cohort, Carla received her Pharmacy Technician Certification through The Excel Center and has been accepted into Southwest Community College with pending acceptance from Union University to further pursue her passion for nursing.

The Excel Center Memphis has served over 5,000 students since it first opened in 2015 and has nearly 1,000 graduates as of December 2022. Over 86% of graduates are employed or have furthered their education.
