Host Jeremy C. Park talks with Erica Shaw, Tennessee and Kentucky Regional Manager for NextOp Veterans, who shares her personal story of transitioning out of the military after serving in the US Marine Corps and highlights the nonprofit organization focused on connecting veterans and military members to career opportunities. NextOp recruits, develops, and places military members and veterans into industry careers. The organization works one-on-one with enlisted service members and veterans to help translate military training and experiences into valued qualifications in the business community, and the organization works with and supports companies to develop and execute their veteran hiring and retention strategies.
During the interview, Erica shares how her own experiences transitioning out of the military equipped and empowered her to help support other veterans and also to work with companies to ensure they are set up for success to benefit from the many advantages of hiring veterans. She talks about some of those advantages that veterans bring to companies, including the ability to perform under stress, handle ambiguity and effectively problem-solve to achieve specific goals, the ability to adapt and learn quickly, and lead teams. She talks about the NextOp model and how both veterans and companies can take next steps to benefit from their services and expertise, and she discusses how the community can support their efforts to help even more veterans and military members connect to their next career opportunity and find success.
