Nashville Radio Show: Tennessee Alliance for Kids: Supporting Children In Foster Care

Host Jeremy C. Park talks with Fran Maynard, Director of Engagement with Tennessee Alliance for Kids (TAK), who highlights the nonprofit that engages the community to meet the emergent and ongoing needs of children in foster care, those at risk of coming into foster care, and those aging out. The Tennessee Department of Children's Services (DCS) cannot solicit donations as a government agency, and out of a need for tangible support, Tennessee Alliance for Kids was established in 2016. TAK serves the Davidson County DCS, Mid-Cumberland DCS, Office of Independent Living and Tennessee Baptist Children's Homes. During the interview, Fran discusses their support services and how when social workers identify the critical needs of children, TAK meets those needs. She talks about how the community can support their efforts, including Amazon Registries across the state, Giving Tuesday and the importance of year end giving, and their Christmas Toy Drive, so the kids can experience the magic of Christmas during their Very Merry Christmas Parade.
