Nashville Radio Show: Cafe Momentum Nashville - A culinary internship program to invest in youth.

Host Jeremy C. Park talks with Teri Sloan, Development Director for Cafe Momentum Nashville, who shares the origins of their culinary internship program that supports local youth involved in the juvenile justice system ages 15-19 to develop self-sufficiency and self-advocacy through a tiered model. Tier 1 focuses on building relationships, assessing needs and introducing social/life skills and culinary skills through 48 hours of paid training. Tier 2 gives interns an opportunity to apply their new skills in paid shifts assisting with the nonprofit organization's catering events. As interns demonstrate competency in the areas of personal responsibility, attitude, customer service and communication, they move on to Tier 3.

During the interview, Teri goes into greater detail on the four Tiers, along with the educational support, mentorship and guidance that is provided throughout the process. She talks about the transformation that takes place, how their efforts are helping the youth and the community at large, and how the public can support their efforts.
