The Miracle and the Mindset: Did I Not Tell You?

In John 11, Martha and Mary respond to their brother’s death in two distinct ways. Martha comes to Jesus with reasoned answers and a logical approach, while Mary simply falls at his feet in trust. Similarly, we can approach God with all the right words yet still miss the deeper truth of who he has revealed himself to be. But when we take him at his word, we can move beyond fear—the intimidation of our brokenness, pain and impossible situations—and walk together as a community into the fullness of resurrection life.
