There is something about this time of the year that makes me think of those weird little Russian nesting dolls. You know the ones, they are those wooden toys that when you open them, they contain another exact replica of the doll, but in a smaller form. You can do this a few times before you get to the final layer, a very small version of the original.
As I was driving home the other morning, those toys came to mind and I started thinking about how that concept relates to developing talents or skills. You start very small, and then you start stacking more and more on top of it until it can no longer grow. Then, at some point in life, those skills will slowly erode and layer by layer, diminish what you are able to do. At this point, you will be back to where you started, that small little toy looking to hang on to whatever is left!
In this episode, I share my thoughts on how to properly develop physical resiliency and talent from a young age all the way up through adulthood. Then, as the aging process takes over, we slowly start to descend back to where we began.
