The Compass Bridge Sonoma Pinot Noir 2023 is a limited-edition wine available at Trader Joe's for $9.99. The Compass Bridge brand is from a entity of Delicato Family Vineyards.
The Story
Delicato Family Vineyards, from the Lodi AVA, purchased Coppola Wines (Sonoma) a few years ago and formed a large wine company that produces wine across all price ranges, specializing in quality, value-priced wines.
The Compass Bridge brand offers three wines: a Chardonnay, a Cabernet Sauvignon, and this Pinot Noir. Trader Joe's says this wine brand is only available for a limited time.
The Sonoma AVA covers a large area, with the compatible Pinot Noir growing regions being reasonably close to the Pacific Ocean or the San Pablo Bay.
I did a quik check of both Delicato and Coppola's website and neither offer 2023 Sonoma County Pinot Noir. Sonoma Coasy AVA, yes, but not Sonoma County.
The alcohol content is 14.5%.
The Compass Bridge Sonoma Pinot Noir 2023 Tasting Notes
The color is still see-through black cherry red. The nose is sour cherry, herbs, crushed dried leaves, plum, spice, mint, and a savory note. The Compass Bridge Sonoma Pinot Noir 2023 is a smooth and tasty Pinot Noir.
This Pinot Noir tastes like black cherry, raspberry, exotic spice, faint slap of Dr. Pepper, pomgranate, and cranberry. None of the fruit flavors is sweet.
The tannins are embedded in the body of the wine, and the acidity is well-balanced.
The Summary
* The Compass Bridge Sonoma Pinot Noir 2023 is a quality, Classic California value-priced Pinot Noir.
* It holds its 14.5% alcohol well and is an easy sipper.
