John and Ann describe their marriage journey before and after he was diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder. Bipolar disorder is also referred to as manic-depressive disorder because it is characterized by extreme shifts in mood with highs and lows that impact a person's ability to function normally. An estimated 2.8 percent of the population has bipolar disorder. John describes his first psychotic episode with hallucinations and delusions. They share how the mental illness impacted their marriage and family.
