At 21, Will joined the Army following the attacks on 9/11. He served two deployments, on his last deployment, his truck was struck by an IED killing his driver David Kirkpatrick and his gunner Eddie Tamez. He lost a leg, developed a traumatic brain injury, and Post Traumatic Stress. As a result of injuries, he spent two years at the Army Hospital Walter Reed learning to walk and speak again.
Once I recovered, he went straight to work for Homeland Security. Shortly after, his mental health took a toll for the worst and he quickly had to stop working. He battled with substance abuse, suicidal thoughts, and depression, a lot of which came out of nowhere. With the help of his family and faith, his new chapter leads him to meet some great people like Kim Seevers and the staff at Lake Placid. They introduced him to the sport and helped him grow within it. With hard work and passion, he made team USA. He now has won two National Championships, a Gold medal in the 2020 Empire Games and 2021 Panamerican Games, and two third-place finishes at the World Cups in Germany and Lake Placid. Will is currently ranked #1 in the USA for seated Para Bobsleigh and #7 in the World.
