I was born and raised in Swansea, Massachusetts and have one younger brother. Parents separated at around age seven and my brother and I lived with our mom. My brother and I went to live with our dad, and I left school in my sophomore year and shortly after joined the Massachusetts Army National Guard where I attended Basic/AIT at Ft. Benning in Georgia. After Basic I came home, studied and received my GED and re-enlisted in the Army, where I was stationed in Hillesheim, Germany in a Mechanized Infantry unit. After my enlistment was over, I spent a year at home. After realizing there was nothing better to offer me, I re-enlisted in the Rhode Island Army Reserve and was assigned to the 1/76th Division Training and went to school to become a drill Sergeant at Ft. Devans, Massachusetts. I did two years as a Reserve Drill Sergeant and then got out. In 1999, I married, adopted my son and my daughter was born. I divorced and moved to Virginia in November of 2001. I remarried in 2003 and re-enlisted in the Virginia National Guard in the 29th INF LT. In 2006, I transferred to the 266th MP Unit and went to MP School at Fort Hunter Liggett in California. In 2008 I was deployed to Iraq for twelve months. After returning home, I was diagnosed with PTSD and medically retired in April 2014. Happily married and enjoy hunting, fishing and traveling with my wife.
