September 3rd: Trusting God Instead of Yourself | Kids Devotional Carpooling with Jesus

Hey Carpool Crew! 🚗 Whether you’re already thinking about lunch on the ride to school or enjoying a chocolate chip muffin at the kitchen table — I’m Pastor Justin, and I’m so glad you’re here.

We’re continuing our Proverbs for Your School Life series, where we look at wisdom Jesus would’ve memorized as a kid — and how it still helps you with real-life choices today.

Today’s verse is one of the most famous in all of Proverbs:

👉 Proverbs 3:5–6 (CSB)

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not rely on your own understanding; in all your ways know him, and he will make your paths straight.”

💡 What does this mean?

  Don’t try to be the boss of your own life.

  
  


• 
  

  Trusting God means giving Him all your heart, not just some of it.

  
  


• 
  

  Straight paths (in Bible times) meant safe paths—God shows us the way that leads to real peace and protection.

  
  

✅ In this episode, kids will learn:

  What trusting God looks like when school, friends, or emotions get tough

  Why Jesus invites us to follow Him step by step—not have it all figured out

  How to live like Jesus did: with full trust in His Father

  
  

🛹 A great visual? Think of it like this:

You’re at a new skate park, and someone who knows the place says, “Follow me — I’ll show you the best path.” You could try it alone and risk a wipeout… or trust the one who’s been there.

That’s what trusting God is like — not about holding back, but avoiding the wipeouts.

📘 Application for today:

1. 
   

   Start your day by saying: “God, I trust You. If You want to say something, I’m listening.”

   
   


2. 
   

   When you’re not sure what to do, don’t fake it — ask a parent, teacher, or someone you trust.

   
   


3. 
   

   Let God’s Word lead you, not just your feelings.
