If you Missed This Story:

In 2015, Matt Davis wrote an article about the state of the industry:  Obstacle Racing.  I took a peek back as I prepared for our guest this week. There have always been some forms of obstacle races.  However, In the 1980’s the Camp Pendleton Mud Run in San Diego, the Tough Guy in the U.K. took center stage and led to 15 years ago the Spartan Race, The Tough Mudder, & the Warrior Dash to mention a few.

Obstacle racing, by contrast, isn’t comfortable or easy. It taps into something primal – the need to get outside and explore the world and do something physically challenging. The s It gets you dirty, it makes you work hard and when you’re done, it brings a sense of accomplishment. It also leads to increased physical fitness, something OCR athletes are always working on.

For many years, rucking has been the fitness choice for those who’ve tried it all and want a new challenge. Ruck marching is a grueling complete body workout designed to test stamina and endurance.

With weighted rucksacks strapped to their backs, tenacious ruckers embark on miles-long walks. One of the greatest benefits of rucking is that ruckers set their own pace. New ruckers need to walk two miles consistently each week. Then add more weight or miles.

Marie Oblinsky Price, also known as Bootleg in the FiA organization.- Bootleg , is the Head of Sales and Strategic Partnerships at Mud Gear
