How many of us have a career in something, then return to the one thing that we had a passion in?  Bob Senn spent a career in Telecommunications before turning to a subject that he loved, Nature in the Carolinas.  He became a certified South Carolina Master Naturalist.  He joins Carolina Outdoor host, Bill Bartee from Jesse Brown’s, to share his background, passion, & the Rocky Shoals Spider Lily bloom currently occurring on the Catawba River at Landsford Canal State Park.

Segment Highlights:

• Bob grew up loving the outdoors in Key West, Rhode Island, & the Wilmington, NC area


• His father was in the Navy & Bob wanted to be a veterinarian.  The academic demands led him towards a career in Telecommunications.


• South Carolina has five zones in the Department of Natural Resources.


• Bob became certified in the Coastal Zone in 2014.  He was certified in all five in 2017


• He has done work with Sea Turtles, Wolves, Birds of Prey, and Oyster Beds.


• Bob Senn has done presentations to groups & led activities


• He is also a member of the South Carolina Association of Naturalists.

Things You’ll Learn by Listening:

The world’s largest bloom of the Rocky Shoals Spider Lily occurs each year in May and June.  The best place to kayak, canoe, or walk to the bloom is at Landsford Canal State Park.  Senn gives us a recent update on the flowers and the resident Eagles that live alongside the Catawba River.
