3 John is the shortest book in the New Testament, but it's packed with lessons about kindness, hospitality, and supporting each other in the truth. John writes to his friend Gaius, praising him for being faithful and showing love to traveling teachers who are spreading the message of Jesus. Unlike the earlier situation with Diotrephes, who refused to help and even hindered those who wanted to do good, Gaius stands out as someone who loves truth and acts on it. John emphasizes the importance of supporting those who work for the truth, so the message of Jesus can continue to spread. This letter is a personal encouragement to live a life that reflects God’s love, supports the spread of the gospel, and stands up for what's right, even when others don't.
