He was also the fastest Australian to swim the English channel back in 2013, raising $30,000 for Mental Health Research in doing so.

Around 15 years prior to swimming the Channel, Matt’s life was in a very different place. Living in Kings Cross, Sydney, Matt was a daily heroin user, living in a one bedroom flat with 3 other users.
