In 1976, Air France Flight F139 was hijacked en route from Tel Aviv to Paris and diverted to Entebbe Airport in Uganda, where the hostages were held under the protection of President Idi Amin. With limited time and options, Israel devised a daring rescue mission, "Operation Thunderbolt," led by Lieutenant Colonel Yonatan Netanyahu. The operation involved a surprise nighttime assault by Israeli commandos, who overcame Ugandan forces, destroyed Ugandan aircraft, and safely freed the hostages. The mission, though successful, cost Netanyahu his life and remains one of Israel's most celebrated and challenging military achievements.
