Twitchell had written a movie script about a serial killer and eerily carried out a real-life murder mirroring the plot. After Altinger's disappearance, police investigated and discovered a document called "SK's Confession" on Twitchell's laptop, detailing the killings. The investigation revealed that another man, Gilles Tetreault, had previously escaped an attempted murder by Twitchell.
