27. The Mysterious Disappearance of the Eilean Mor Lighthouse Keepers

In December 1900, three lighthouse keepers—James Ducat, Donald MacArthur, and Thomas Marshall—disappeared from the remote Eilean Mor island in Scotland under mysterious circumstances. When a ship, "Scotland's Lys," passed by and noticed the lighthouse was not illuminated, the Northern Lighthouse Board sent Joseph Moore to investigate. Upon arrival, Moore found the lighthouse in perfect working condition but eerily deserted, with signs of recent human activity. A logbook revealed strange entries describing a storm, though no storms had been reported in the area at the time. Various theories emerged, from a deadly wave sweeping the men away to supernatural forces at play, but the disappearance remains one of Britain’s greatest maritime mysteries. Despite numerous investigations and speculation over the years, no definitive explanation has been found.
