E6 The “Journey” Stage of Hero’s Journey |IBGR | Donna Kunde & Londina Cruz “Every time you are willing to say “Yes” to everything on your path, you express the hero inside of you.” --Maria Nemeth At some point we begin to want more and yearn for something beyond ourselves. This activates the Seeker who begins the search for meaning and purpose so we answer the call to begin the journey. Once we embark on the journey, we encounter some sort of suffering. The Destroyer takes away things that seemed essential to our lives. This is an initiation through suffering but it also activates the Lover as we find ourselves in love with people, causes, places and work. This love is so strong it requires commitment and we are no longer free. The treasure that emerges out of this encounter with the Destroyer or death and Love is the birth of our true self. The Creator helps us begin to express this self in the world and prepares us to return back to our starting place to share our transformation. These four abilities, to strive, to let go, to love and to create, teach us the basic process of dying to the old self and giving birth to the new. The process prepares us to return to the “kingdom” and change our lives.
